Vocational Evaluations/Assessments

Vocational assessments are provided to clients involved in several types of cases. These evaluations are used to gather relevant information concerning the client's past education and work history as well as potential aptitudes and/or transferable skills. Intelligence tests, achievement tests and aptitude tests are frequently administered before completing an analysis to determine the client's residual labor market access.

Labor Market Access Analysis/Written Report
Following a vocational assessment, we can perform a labor market access analysis to determine the reduction in labor market access an individual has as a result of an injury. This involves using data gathered from the vocational assessment and completing a study of recent labor market statistics to estimate the number of jobs an individual is qualified to perform pre- and post-injury. A written report, including work history, educational achievement, vocational evaluation performance, medical record summaries and labor market access analysis results, can then be prepared.

File Consultation
Hankins & Hankins can consult with attorneys concerning the vocational merits of a case. Working undisclosed to the opposing side, we can evaluate the vocational issues and offer an informal opinion on the claimant's/plaintiff's employability. We can also make recommendations concerning the type of evidence needed to develop the vocational matters in the case. Additionally, we can critique the opposing side's expert(s) opinion. We can help counsel develop questions to pose to the other side's expert in deposition or live testimony as well.

Expert Witness Testimony
When necessary we provide opinions in deposition and live testimony. We provide our services for both plaintiff and defense attorneys. Our opinions are developed through our vocational and/or earning capacity assessments, a labor market analysis and a review of all relevant client medical records. Our expert witness testimony can help the trier of fact gain a better understanding of the effects a client's functional limitations may have on his/her vocational prospects and potential loss of earning capacity.

Career Counseling/Job Interview Skills Training
We provide assistance to clients who are seeking help with deciding what career path to explore. We can also help clients with job searches and with job application and interview skills. There are interests and work values inventories we can administer to clients to give them ideas about what types of jobs may be most suitable to them. With the help of these inventories we can help clients find employment in their local labor market that results in a suitable person-environment fit.
