Work Adjustment Counseling

Service Man Plug

Work adjustment counseling is typically provided to a client who is either seeking to return to work after an extended absence from the labor force or who is intending to leave his or her current employment in search of alternative employment. Work adjustment counseling usually includes a structured interview that commences an evaluation process which may involve the administration of various standardized vocational and psychometric tests (e.g. work interest/values inventories; aptitude tests) to help identify and/or validate an appropriate vocational goal consistent with person-environment correspondence theory.  Once a vocational goal is established, assistance in acquiring any necessary human capital in the form of education or training will be provided. Job-seeking skills training, including assistance with finding and applying for positions within the client’s goal occupation, will also be provided if desired.
